Difference between a dedicated IP address and a Shared one is like having a direct entrance to your house as compared with a shared entrance with all your neighbours. Now if one of your neighbours is a criminal, you would be a suspect too, since you all share the same entrance.
So if you are on a shared IP address and if there is another site hosting porn or some other illegal stuff on the same IP address, your site will be associated with porn or whatever illegal stuff and it would face the same blackmarks. Most hosts offer really cheap hosting without mentioning this important fact.
If you can find another host offering a cheaper hosting package than ours, check whether it is on a shared or Dedicated IP address first.
