Creation of hand-painted batik involves several techniques
such as color blending, overlay and crackling. Skill is needed
in "canting" where a "pen" filled with liquid wax is used, together
with dyes, to paint on plain fabric. The right selection of motifs
and application of dyes and wax are also important in creating a
traditional or contemporary style hand-drawn batik.
