Pricing of Apple IP Phones

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

IP Phones from Apple or anything created by Apple for that matter, is good looking but comes with a hefty price tag. Apple’s PCs’ for example, look good and come with powerful processors, but limited upgrading possibilities. You need to upgrade – dump your rotten Apple and get a fresh one.

Apple might have its hardcore fans with deep pockets but they could lose to the majority. Popularity of the PC over the Mac is enough evidence for this.

Moving on to the IP Phones, Apple moved on to new level of securing fresh IP Apples’ by locking them to networks in a country. The first IP phone which cost thousands is now worthless. But I am still confused about the way Apple prices its phones. Why does the same phone which costs $200 in one country cost $1200 in another? My only reason is in the freshness of the Apple and I believe there are some die-hard “Apple fresh” fans who will agree with me. Thanks to these die-hard fans, Apple need not buy new refrigerators to keep its products fresh but just modify its appearance.

But one thing Apple must get credit for is resisting the temptation of moving its production to China or we will end up with perfect looking fakes which don’t work.
